Deborah Gross-Zuchman, a Philadelphia painter, received a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education from Temple University and a Master's Degree in Painting from the Goddard Graduate Program of Norwich University. She was an Art Demonstration Teacher and taught in the Philadelphia Public Schools for thirty-five years. She also worked as a Project Manager for the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program for nine years.
Gross-Zuchman's landscapes are plein-air paintings created during her various travels in Europe and the United States. In the studio, Gross-Zuchman paints "inspirational" landscapes from her imagination as well as making collages (using cut up papers that she has painted with an array of beautiful colors creating interesting and surprising effects with the brush and palette knife). The subject matter ranges from abstract to representational. Deborah's book of poems and paintings, Windows Into War ( a mother's lament), is published by Abingdon Square Publishers . The Essential Seder, a contemporary haggadah with emphasis on social justice and freedom, illustrated with her collages, is available through Behrman House, Barnes & Noble, and on Amazon. Becky's Braids, illustrated by Deborah and written by Susan Weiss, is available at the National Museum of American Jewish History. Effectations is a book of paintings by Deborah accompanied by poems by Will Zuchman about man's isolation. These items can also be purchased by contacting [email protected]. |
